The actress will be hoisting the Indian national flag at the iconic Federation Square building on August 12, 2017, on the occasion of 70th Indian Independence Day celebrations.

It’s indeed a very proud moment for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as she hosted the Indian flag with her daughter Aaradhya in Melbourne this morning. Yes, the actress who’s there for IFFM 2017, got lucky to be the first Indian actress to host the National Flag in Melbourne, that too with her 5-year old daughter. No wonder she couldn’t hold back her emotions as she gave a heartfelt speech in Hindia, post the flag hoisting ceremony. She said, “I am feeling so proud right now. I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for giving me this lifetime experience. Me along with my loving daughter Aaradhya will remember this day all our lives. Thank you so much Melbourne. Thank you all for giving us such a moment of pride and happiness with so much love involved. Celebrating our 70th year of independence!”.

Speaking about Aishwarya, Mitu Bhowmick-Lange (Director of IFFM) stated, “IFFM is proud to welcome one of India’s most loved and iconic actors – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – to the festival and look forward to celebrating Indian cinema in Australia. Aishwarya will be also walking the red carpet as a special guest at the star-studded awards night to be held on August 11 at Melbourne’s Recital Centre.”

We got our hands on a picture of the actress as she was seen posing with Mitu as well as Daniel Andrews (Premiere Chief Minister of Victoria). The actress looked ethereal in a black floor length Anarkali with a gold choker necklace and a simple black dupatta with a golden border and sequins all over it.   Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya Bachchan were recently snapped at the airport as they jet set to Melbourne, Australia to attend the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2017 (IFFM)
