Akshay Kumar will be next seen in Mission Mangal

The news of Akshay Kumar doing the remake of Tamil blockbuster Kanchana has been in the news for quite some time now. While the official announcement is still awaited, the latest reports suggest that Kiara Advani will romance the Khiladi of Bollywood in this horror comedy. The film will be directed by Raghava Lawrence, who directed and acted in the original one. Reportedly, the film will go on floors by the end of this month and the makers are planning to release the film early next year. It is tentatively titled Lakshmi.

Although Kiara and Akshay will share screen space in Good News, Lakshmi will be the first film where they’ll be paired together. As per a report from a leading daily, a source close to the development said, “Kiara has almost been confirmed for the role, and now only the final formalities are being worked out. Akshay is currently busy with Good News (starring Kareena Kapoor Khan), post which he will get on this project. The remake has been on Akshay’s mind for a long time now and he’s happy that finally things are falling into place.”

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar will be next seen in Mission Mangal. The film is jointly-partnered by Akshay’s Cape of Good Films, Fox Star Studios and Pad Man helmer R Balki and will be directed by Jagan Shakti. It is based on India’s Mars Mission and features the ensemble cast of Sharman Joshi, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen in pivotal roles. The film is scheduled to hit the screens on August 15 during the Independence Day weekend and will lock horns with John Abraham’s Batla House and Prabhas’ Saaho at the ticket windows.

Meanwhile, Kiara will next feature in Shahid Kapoor-starrer Kabir Singh. It is the official remake of Telugu hit Arjun Reddy.
