Dhanush to remake Ranbir Kapoor’s Barfi in Tamil?

Dhanush, who awaits the release of his forthcoming entertainer Velai Illa Patthadhaari 2, has bought the remake rights of the Hindi film Barfi. According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, the Aadukalam actor is likely to remake the film in Tamil as Duet. It must be noted that Barfi, which had Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead, was India’s official entry to the Oscars in 2012. However, the film was not nominated.

Speaking about the film, a source was quoted as saying, “The national award winner is likely to reprise the role of Ranbir in the Tamil version; after all the Aadukalam actor is game for challenging characters.”

An official confirmation regarding the same is awaited. Barfi tells the story of three people who discover that love can neither be defined nor be contained. Upon release, Ranbir Kapoor was highly praised for his stellar performance in titular character.

On the work front, Dhanush recently wrapped up his Hollywood flick The Extraordinary Journey of The Fakhir. He will soon begin shooting for Maari 2 and Vada Chennai. Dhanush’s long delayed Enai Noki Paayum Thotta is expected to release later this year.
