Nene Raju Nene Mantri quick movie review: Rana Daggubati as Jogendra gets his politician act spot on in this fast paced drama

Rana Daggubati’s third film of this year,Nene Raju Nene Mantri is finally here! After playing Lt commander, a cruel king, Rana is now set to play a politician in this one and boy, it’s a whole new avatar, far from his previous ones. So what is Nene Raju Nene Mantri all about? It’s an out and out political drama with a love story woven into it. Says our movie critic Karthika, who is currently watching the film at a nearby theatre, “The film opens with Jogendra (played by Rana) sitting before jail, narrating the chronicles of the ambitious, scheming politician. Jogendra is one of the most interesting characters in recent times. He is more than what meets the eye. Intitally you think he’s an innocent, submissive character who will do anything out of fear. But soon you realise, his fear is just a disguise for his ruthlessness. With his shrewd ways, he slowly goes up the ranks killing people who are in the way. Subsequently, he gets into hardcore money farming. As a character, he is greatly flawed. Selfish, manipulative, scheming are the words that come to mind when you think of Jogendra. Of course as he garners more fame and power, he also makes enemies along the way. They are all set to expose him but Jogendra eventually gets the better of them. However there comes a point because of his own guilty conscience, he kills his own trusted right hand man,Shiva.

Talking about the plot, it is fast paced but Teja’s direction is jerky and doesn’t flow like it should. As for the actors, have to admi there are shades of Bhallaladeva to Rana’s character but as Jogendra, he’s brilliant. Before the camera, he’s natural real and convincing. This is a powerful character he has taken on. Kajal Aggarwal is fairly decent as a supporting cast. Their chemistry is on point! Hard to believe it’s their first film!
